MILLARD JOSEPH BECK Dec 3rd 2013 Beloved father and husband Millard Joseph Beck, 74 of Mililani died in Bremerton Washington. He was born in Honolulu and a graduate of Rosevelt High School, worked for many years at Ameron HC&D in Honolulu. He is survived by his wife Shirley Beck, his daughters Andrea, Shannon and Amber, his son-in-law David Tracewell and his grandchildren Sydney, Jade and Lucas Tracewell. Wilhelmina, E. “Ipo” DeRego, 65, of Kula, passed away on December 9, 2013 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on February 8, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary, Wailuku, with visitation from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Eulogy at 7:00 pm; Prayer service at 7:30 pm and cremation to follow final viewing.
On Saturday, December 21, everyone is invited to meet at St. Joseph’s Church in Makawao by 5:45 am for the drive out to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hana, where visitation will continue at 9:00 am; Mass over urn at 10:15 am; followed by inurnment at Puuiki Cemetery.
She was a retired dispatcher with the Maui Police Department.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick DeRego; sons, Byron (Jeana) DeRego and Conrad (Serrena) DeRego; daughter, Wanda DeRego; brothers, Moki (Charmaine) Day, Kimo (Rina) Day, Tiny Day, Major (Lavina) Day and Peter (Aileen) Day; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
LORRAINE GOMES BISHO Age 86, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2013 at her Pauoa Valley home. She was born on August 8, 1927 in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Robert and Randy; grandsons Brian, Aran (Chantelle) and Evan; great grandson Jace; brother Vernon “Boyce” Gomes; sister Theresa “Nanny” De Luze; and her many nieces and nephews. She was with state of Hawaii for over 30 years as a professor of English, LEEWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Previously, a speech and hearing therapist for 13 years with the Hawaii Easter Seal Society. As well, she served as a member of the U.S. Navy on active duty for 7 years as a hospital corps WAVE. RANDAL KONG Age 58. Surrounded by family and friends during his last day, Randal peacefully passed into the welcoming arms of Jesus on November 5, 2013. RODNEY SILVANO TEXEIRA Rodney Silvano Texeira, 77, left us on December 3, 2013 surrounded by his family at his side in Modesto, CA. Rodney is survived by his wife of 59 years, Isabella “Pinky”, his daughter Silvana “Van” Ducasse (Victor), sons Rodney Jr “JR” (Lina), Mathew “Matt” (Tina). His sister Jeanette Faulkner, brother William “Bill” (Kathy) and many cousins, neices and nephews. Rodney also known as “Papa” was truly blessed with 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. ISAMU KOBASHIGAWA Age 86, of Pearl City, HI, passed away November 21, 2013 in Honolulu. Born March 1, 1927 in Honolulu, HI. He is survived by daughters, Lorraine (Paul) Asano, Doreen (Ronny) Higuchi; sister, Sally Nakata; 4 grandchildren. Private Services were held.
EUNICE YUEN OY KONG LAU 92 of Honolulu, Hawaii died December 2, 2013 at the Hale Ho Aloha Nursing Home. She was born August 2, 1921 in Lilong, China. Eunice Lau, the late owner of Gum Chew Lau Noodle Factory, lived in Kaimuki, on the island of Oahu for the past 65 years where she and her husband raised three children. Throughout her life, work, and participation in the Christian Chinese Church Community, Eunice gained a diverse group of friends, and hanai family. Many people helped her when she first moved to Oahu; in return, she lovingly and generously reciprocated by assisting others in need. During her retirement years she learned and excelled at various crafts such as knitting and crocheting, making dish scrubbies and baby hats for the hospital, neck and haku lei- making, using flowers, feathers, money, even recyclable materials. Her garden bloomed with cigar flowers and pikake. She kissed babies, played mahjong, cooked and ate delicious food, traveled the world and lived life to the fullest. Towards the end she suffered from diabetes progressive kidney failure. She opted not to receive dialysis treatment, rather fearlessly awaiting death. At the age of 92, she died at 12:30 a.m. on December 2, 2013, at Hale Ho Aloha on Pacific Heights Road, with her only granddaughter Dory Jay, and daughter Victoria at her side. Bernadette Vierra Rodrigues, 93, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on December 6, 2013, at her home under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on August 6, 1920, in Lahaina, Maui.
